Having an internet business

Recommended Posts

:duck No this is not :lol6 but rather a serious question and hoping to keep the thread serious please. I'm intrigued with the idea of earning a living off the Internet mainly due to the freedom of being able to travel everywhere ( I like travelling :lol2 ) yet still being open for business. Anyone here have a Internet business on the side / ever had this way of thinking ? Any ideas of what to look into that hasn't been done to death ?

Also what course or self teaching material would one get to learn the basics of doing such a business ..any constructive thoughts are welcomed :evilgrin

do you mean like selling things on ebay type business, where people order, and you call your dist. and they drop ship it to the customer so you never have to handle the merchendise?

If so, I have a coupla disks I'd have to find em, but I'd burn em and send it to ya :evilgrin

EBAY :duck

I sell 15-25 vehicles, trailers, rvs, off there a year and expanding.

The faster I can get out of this business the better :evilgrin

That would be great to check out :evilgrin although being from Canada, Ebay isn't as lucrative as being from the States..don't ask me why, I just know a few people that are into Ebay here telling me that ..better now though that our dollar is stronger :duck

Very cool Willie ...again, the deals I see on those items in U.S. are much better then that of Canada ( I have a pretty good eye for value on RV's ,trailers. etc. ) I live close to the border, I thought about buying there and selling here seadoos), but the government duties and fees take a good chunk out of the profit. Example: I found a total of 5 seadoos that would have cost collectively $12,000 that I could have bought, brought over and easily doubled my money on holding on them till springtime, but duty fees and a $200 export fee not to mention time, gas, wear and tear getting them (some were 6 hr drive each way away) it didn't make much sense.

I was thinking more like being able to travel around wherever, whenever living "the life" as I try to do, but making a living on the laptop that I woulds bring along with me . I know people do it and some are successful..I'd like to know how to get into something without spending too much to do it ..it would be nice if somehow I could tie knowledge of tinting in wit hit ..but I don't see how you can convert the knowledge of a blue- collar skill like tinting into a internet business..but if there's a way, lets discuss it :beer

The one place that everyone tells you to sell stuff is eBay, in it's hayday ebay was great and you could make a LOT of money there but it is now flooded by businesses and most items have turned into a commodity and the prices are horrible. I was part of the powersellers beta program before it was rolled out, I used to buy off lease computer equipment and liquidate it through ebay and do 20-30K a month. After everyone and their brother started using ebay, auctions have largely went away and everything now is "buy it now." That 20-30K a month equaled 5-7K when I realized that it was a time to move on.

You need to find something unique that not everyone is doing and u might be able to make it. For instance, I just acquired an importer bond so we can import japanese mini trucks direct from Japan and resell them here. Because we can now import direct from Japan we're able to get the vehicles cheap enough to resell to other dealers who want to start moving them. We'll see how it goes, it's still a really new product here in Ohio so we'll see how well they move. Willie could sell these things like crazy, people in TX are nuts over these little trucks!

Importing seems the way to do it, a few people I know do it. One buys ATV's from Japan and puts his name on them and sells them for a fortune, that' a good idea since Ohio is a hot spot for these types of vehicles maybe it's a good venture for someone in Canada too.
