Question about partial tinting

I am newer to the residential/commercial scene and I have a customer who needs two east facing windows tinted. They like the bronze films and selected Johnson's SB30. My issue is that the large glass is 66"x80" and the bottom 6 inches are blocked off by a piece of wood stuck in place to add to the ledge at the bottom.

Can I tint up to this edge? Should I remove it and tint away? Can I partially tint the glass, even if its SB50 that would be fine.

Here are a few pictures to help show the problem.

Thanks for any assistance or advice,

Tim.

I don't use johnson's film but that shouldn't matter. If you can move it I think it looks better. If not you might want to use a factor edge down there if you can.

In terms of the glass though its alright to tint it partially? The heat differences between sections wouldnt cause issues? I called my rep who is very good with this stuff but I am waiting for a call back.

if you are worried about the glass braking...I wouldnt worry about it..if it has broke yet with the heat difference...im sure that black wood there traps and absorbs more heat then the film you will be putting on...imo..I would do it..but now warranty...anyway..they wont warranty it anyways if the seals are borke.

I had a a commercial job like that about a year ago with about 5 inches on the bottom being blocked by wood. It was single pane 1/4 " glass on a building that was about 20 years old and havnt had any issues as of yet... and I used DR-15.....

I'd do it since I seen the seal already gone. It would look better tinted all the way since the windows are lettered, but with a blown seal already I wouldn't go through the hassle of removing the wood unless it was easy to do.
