Job Estimates Today

Its Been A while since I did some decent flat glass jobs so I had 2 estimates today one was for a jewlery store owned by some indians ...since my flat glass has been a lil slow I added up the sq footage at my normal 6 per square and rounded it of to the lower end of the number thinking it would be I nice gesture for the holiday season ...they countered my estimate from 6 per sq to 2.75 per sq are they fu%6n crazy they want me to cut my price in half ...

estimate number 2 I went in at 6 per square for some bottle gas company and they said no problem when can you do it can you do it right now from that response I even threw in 2 small office windows for them ... oh yeah some down to earth americans in that store

Ive talked to Joe a couple of times over the phone and he seems like a hard working, stand up guy to me. The way readers interpret others posts on a forum is sometimes far off from the posters intensional purpose. Then again, what do I know? I'm just a film rep.

I have had a few Indians (Pakistanian variety) and they both told me up front, give me your best price because I am going with the lowest quote regardless. One of the guys drove up in a Porche Cyanne. I always reply, I quote what I think my work is worth and I dont think my service and final product is worth $2.75/sf. I am not being racist, just sharing my experiences when quoting certain customers. Needless to say I didnt get either job, and I was okay with that because I know what I am worth. I drove by both places about a month later and they had silver 20 hanging (not appropiate for their type of storefronts and surrounding storefronts) Looks like they did indeed go with the lowest bid and in my opinion the cheapest film.

oh well...you win some you lose some....let the low life hack have those jobs...those are the kinda ppl (price hagglers)... are the ones I can do without.
