I am really starting to get tired of distributors relabeling film. I have lost count of how many times I have ordered Sunscape Select and been sent the cheaper series from madico, and what they do is just put a new label with the Sunscape info over the original one. Yesterday I had the same problem with suntek ordered 60in of there 20% bronze and the sent me the 35% relabeled with the 20% info.

Not only is it not fair to me becuase they are still charging me for the more expensive film, but to the customer who is also paying for the higher end film.

As far as the Suntek issue; we were matching previously tinted windows and after the job was performed it was obvious that the film we installed was lighter. So now we are going to have to redo the entire job.

My main concern is I am always very careful to make sure that it is the correct film, but my installers glance at the label and trust that is what is in the box (not that they should have to police what the distributor is actually doing)

Fortunetly, besides the suntek job I have been able to remedy the problem before the work is performed. But what if one slipped through and the customer became aware of this? he would immediately blame me and it would be very dificult for me to prove that it was the distributor that caused the problem unless I kept all my empty boxes to prove what happened.

I just don't know what to do about it, is it a low level issue or are the higher ups auhtorizing it. Do I contact the Manufacturer and advise them of the situation or the IWFA?

(JUST TO BE FAIR SUNTEK WAS VERY APOLOGETIC AND SAID IT WOULD NEVER HAPEN AGAIN. AS FAR AS THE MADICO DISTRIBUTOR THEY ALWAYS PLAY DUMB AND BLAME IT ON MADICO)

:poke Thats some serious stuff :beer I'm sure they say it will never happen again and in your account is a note, not to send the switched film to you cause you caught them, who knows how many this has happened to.

I had that happen with suntek as well with hp bronze 35, and they sent me hp bronze 18. The box was labeled 35, but the sticker inside the core was 18. They promised not to let it happen to me again, I guess its your turn :poke:beer:poke

to come to the aid of suntek, human error does happen to everybody. All of us are guilty of that. But if they are doing it on purpose trying to fill your order, when actually the film you want is out of stock, then that is just plain unacceptable. I've been dealing with them for 5 and a half years with no issues. The only shipping issues is when I got sent the wrong film once or twice, but the box was labeled correctly.

I wasn't trying to bash them either, just pointing out I had a similar problem, and haven't had a problem since. And your right, they are probably not doing it on purpose, just someone boxing it wrong.

Luckily I caught it before I tinted the car. :poke

I have never had that problem with suntek or madcow commercial films but no telling who's cooknig in the kitchen with regards to auto tint. Check the core label and then you'll know what's going on!

no matter what the label says...you should be able to tell a 35 from a 20 just by looking at it. if relabeling is the issue then that's bs, but to install an entire job not realizing that it was 35 instead of 20 would never happen to me.

I do know that a lot of manufacturers do not produce their own bronze film. They purchase it in bulk and box and label it. It's hard to say if it was boxed at the manufacturers end or the distributor's side mistakes do happen as long as the distributor is willing to reimburse you for the labor as well as the film and the cost of removal. I would be all right with that

Or me too :poke
