Car Dealerships should stick to selling cars

I have noticed in this part of the country. that more and more of the new car dealerships are using in-house tinters. I really think car dealerships should do what they do best sell cars. Not try to turn their dealership into a tint shop. I know they'll say there is money to be made at the expense of running a lot of tint shops out of business and is only going to get worse. I see it in the drastic drop of new cars coming into our shop. They preload every car that comes on their lot, before it's sold. It gives us no chance to ever work on these cars. And now the film manufacturers are getting involved are setting up these dealerships with plotters and selling them tint at less than the film shops can buy. This is totally unfair to undermine all the tint shops around . The only way I can see to stop this madness is for the tinters to band together and refuse to work for these dealerships . If we want to save this industry. We have to start somewhere.

Mad as hell in Las Vegas

Um...if they're tinting in house wouldn't we already not be tinting for them?

Also, if we don't tint for them....wouldn't they be encouraged to bring tinting in-house?

The same can be said with the film companies setting them up with plotters, tools, film, and training. If we boycott them then wouldn't they be encouraged to seek out more dealerships to stay in business?

What I meant by in house tinters was that they are full-time employees of the dealership. And I wasn't talking about boycotting the film manufacturers. I just want them not to bite the hand that feeds them

I understand what in-house means.

But you said we should not do work for those dealerships......well, if the dealerships have in-house tinters then we are already not doing work for them.

You need a different plan to stick it to them.

Hell, most tint shops can't make it as a tint shop, so, I know the dealerships will " crash and burn". Just sit back and relax.

:lol tint is an add on to the sale, and the price is normaly jacked up,allot of car buyers are gaining that knowledge and tinting their cars after, some are just wise and cut cost because of the economy :lol2 , any way most of those dealer accounts are but a minor % of the tinting industry :lol2 .. :lol2

unless a dealership hits the lucky straw and gets someone who is great at tinting AND pays them very well then they will find themselves in a big pickle very quickly. They will have a great tinter that moves out on their own because they see what they could be making, or they will just simply not have any tint work worth mentioning.

You will not find someone happy with a hack low quality tint job on a new car. If you do they should stop having kids.....
