Anyone know if the ones you plug into your lighter to jump your car are just as good as the ones that have cables that hook up to the battery ?

There is one in Today's Pep Boys ad for a standard booster box with cables.

A Black & Decker booster box with a cigarette cable plug in with no batteery cables.

If a vehicle's battery is dead there is no way can you jump start that vehicle using the cig lighter socket. Too much current involved for that.

no they have a slow charger that charges the batt back up that way

It will work too charge the batt., but not to "jump" it...

I use the plug in type, with cables that connect to batt. terminals....

I put batt. help on most all cars while tinting them, that way I don't have to phuck with it later....

I got a Craftsman battery charger/jumpstarter with the wheels on it. Paid $80 for it and it comes in handy. When I get a car that has a weak battery, I'll put it on trickle charge so the battery doesn't die and I don't get blamed for anything going wrong from the battery going dead.
