Football vs Nascar

Too much time on my hands, but in Football you see 22 guys fighting over 1 ball.

Why not give each guy his own ball and make them all happy ?

In Nascar, you don't see 43 guys fighting over 1 car !

No, but the 43 guys are fighting for one position on the track, OUT FRONT! :lol2

My personal preference is football, naturally, but there is alot to be said about driving 190mph with 40 other yuppies behind you!

NASCAR everyday of the week. those football puzzies wouldn't be able to sit in the passenger seat of a car going 195 miles an hour without shiatting themselves....let alone be able to drive the car. :lol

of course, I'd love nothing more than to see any defensive linemen slam jimmy johnson and jeff gordon into the ground. :lol2

:lol

It is America's fastest growing event, notice how I did not call it a sport. It is arguable that Nascar has now exceeded the fan base for professional football.

Here is the million dollar question, and lets try not to offend anyone here. Why would Americans rather watch cars drive in circles and smash for several hours than watch exquisite athletic specimens compete head to head every play for 60 minutes, each play involving critical execution of in depth strategy for both offense and defense?? All while following a list of rules longer than one 8 1/2 x 11 page of size 30 font.

Granted, I can have fun drinking beer and watching almost any event live, with the exception of a Celine Dion concert, but to compare the two events is like comparing my blackberry cell phone to a typwriter, a box of envelopes and a roll of stamps.

To answer your question in my own opinion, Where else do you compete 3 1/2 -4 1/2 hours non-stop ?

No end of quarter, no half time, the entire you have to make split second decisions, and a wrong decision could get you seriously injured.

Also, have to talk to the team, try and figure out any vibration problems, watch the gauges, AND all the traffic around you.

Look at Dale Jr when he was on a restart a coupla weeks ago, and the left rear rim broke, went into the wall, the other guys had to make split second decisions so they did not run into him, or another driver.

There was one race where Father Earnhardt went from 17th to win the race in the last 5 laps ? Talledega, or Daytona ?

With football, you run 1 play, talk over the next play, and then run that one. Pretty slow paced, 60 min of game play takes 4 hours, and the last 2 min can take upwards of 10-15 min.

Just a comparison of the 2, not trying to ruffle any feathers.

I gotta disagree there Blade, Pac Man Jones or Ray Lewis would love to have a vehicle that would run 195 when they are running from the popo after a shooting or stabbing.... :hmmm:thumb

But, I'd love to see Roy Williams horsecollar jeff gordon... :beer:lol2:lol2:lol2

:thumb So when did they remove pit stops, and caution flags etc etc from NASCAR? last time I checked that's not 3 -1/2 - 4-1/2 hours of "NON-STOP" competition, and if the car breaks or you wreck in the first 15 laps, do you still compete for that long, :beer you load your :lol and go home :dunno:lol2
