I found this site a few weeks ago and decided to register the other day. It's time to enter the "school of hard knocks" like I've read about so much here. I've obtained some Sun-Tek film and need some tools now. I will be purchasing a Wagner heat gun and gloves from Home Depot. The following tools will be purchased from 44tools. Please review and make suggestions. I realize that not everyone uses all of the following tools but... I like tools!!

Also, please post your favorite "smart-ass comment for the noob". I know how this works. I've been reading alot!

1. Olfa Stainless Blade (50) $16.00

2. Unger Pro Handle $7.00

3. "6"" Blue Maxx Insert" $1.25

4. Auto Blue Maxx Blade $6.50

5. Clear Max Blade $7.00

6. Lil' Chizler $0.50

7. Side Swiper No Logo $9.00

10. "6"" Yellow Teflon Card" $2.75

11. Blade Aide / Single Blade $1.00

12. Single Edge Razor Blades $4.25

13. The Edge $3.00

14. Yellow Contour $3.00

15. "4" Black Teflon Card" $1.75

16. Platinum EZ Reach Corner $2.00

Looks good.... I would scratch the 'thick' whte scrubber.

When you are at HD also pick up 1.5" wide masking tape ( for felt on roll-up's), Spray bottle(s), and soem glass cleaner to get the soap smears after you are done.

What kinda wussy stops just short of the $100 mark on the tool list? :poop

Things I like that aren't on your list:

- The Scrubber - must have!

- White teflon cards

- Yellow Turbo

- Little Red | Black | or Blue Foot

- Slammer

- Push stick

- Black smoothie for cleaning.

- The Conquistador and Black & White can come in handy in some tight spots.

Then maybe stop by Sam's/Costco/Wal-mart/etc... for some micro-fiber towels, Sprayway glass cleaner, 0000 steel wool and blue paper towels.

Just remember to do a good job squeegeeing the film on so it doesn't blow off while driving. :dunno

Thanks for the replies.

I was going to use a regular spray bottle for the slip solution, at least for a little while. I'm not totally sure I understand the benefit of the spray bottle yet! :poop .

I will scratch the thick white scrubber. Maybe I will boy 2 thin white scrubbers instead.

I will add the Scrubber, White teflon card, Yellow turbo and one of those foots (what's the difference?), Slammer, Push stick, Black smoothie, Black and White.

I have plenty of MF towels and Glass Cleaner as I detail cars. Steel wool and blue paper towels I will get (What's the brand name for the lint free paper towels?).

Are most of the various shaped squeegees and cards made specifically for the variety of back glass?

- Doesn't the film go on the inside!! :poop:dunno

I appreciate all the help! :poop

:hmmm that costs extra :poop

:hmmm to the board, you've got a nice list of tools going there, just :dunno for what it's worth, ask your rep to hook you up with a "beginers" tool kit, might not seem like much, but it could save ya about 25 - 30 bucks :poop

The job comes out much cleaner than it would if you applied the slip with a roller. Aren't you glad you asked for smart-ass comments? :lol2

one of those foots (what's the difference?)

If I remember correctly, it's the reverse order of turbos, so...

Blue: Stiff

Red: Stiffer

Black: Stiffest

I have the blue & red and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between them, so you'd probably be fine with any of them. I'd just buy one of each and see which you like. They also come in handy for cleaning in tight spots with a towel wrapped around the point.

Also, be sure to inspect the tools and clean up any rough edges if necessary. You can order two of the same tool and one will be perfectly smooth, while the other one will look like a blind person shaped it out of a chunk of plastic with a jackhammer.

should of bought more unger handles for all your blades, and chizlers are cheap and small so you lose those easily. also the ez reach tools get the tips broken off easy. I like the ez reach so I buy them in like batches of 20.

in my pouch I keep

yellow turbo

clear max

olfa

ez reach

gold card

1" blades

and a small screwdriver

when I jump in the back for the rear window I grab a slammer and bulldozer and conqueror when needed

scratch there scrubs they leave little hairs go to walmart and get a dobie pad they are the best

I did not see a slammer on your list or a small and large yellow turbo get some white teflon cards so you can split them in the middle and make some cornering cards red devils thin and thick so you can get the tint in the bottom of the door my pump up spray bottles I get from lowes for six bucks and they throw much more water the the ones from 44 tools and as far as trigger bottles I get the 3 pack from bj's awesome amount of water the best I found so far good luck dude and you can never have enough tools on hand :lol2:lol2:lol2:lol6
