About a week back I worked a commercial quote, the guy owns 4 similar store locations in town & I wanted all of them for the work & to keep my installers working. As a bonus, he wanted me to come out and quote his 3700 sf home too. I gave him the quote for the first commercial job. I based the $ on a solar installation but was going to hang security with same solar principals. He loved that & was going to get back with me to schedule! :lol2

He calls me today, says he wants a price on just getting the solar! :lol2:lol2

He was informed :lol2 !

I think he's saying in an attempt to get all the stores plus the house, he gave the guy a great deal by offering the security film at a price of regular window tint. After discounting the security film to regular tint prices, the guy now wants a quote on just regular tint....

I think he thinks he screwed himself........lesson learned. Always tell the customer the price given is a discounted price if you get all the work. Any alterations or partial work will require a different price scale. Been there done that.... :evilgrin

lost me too

Sorry :evilgrin , was just a bit dazed from the call when I typed the post.

Yes, this particular client has 5 store's in total. I was bidding on one(The 1st of 5), with the

basis of doing all 5. Plus his(3700 sf) home on the backside. I gave him a installed price that would be equal to a good solar film installation. But was going to hang security film for him to clintch all the work. I was going to eat the cost/profit difference to get all the work.

He knew that he was getting tinted security film hung at the cost of solar film. Compared pricing to all his other bids.....yet he called me today( a week later) & wanted me to do better on price if he got solar installed from me, rather than security film. :beer

Does that make better sense?? :thumb

YES :evilgrin , you got it. BUT, I informed him while handing him his quote/paperwork that I wanted his business & thats what I was doing to earn it. Now then he calls me a week later and acts like he never knew that & wanted even better.

I explained, do you want a regular solar film installation, or a security film installation, his choice same price! :beer:thumb

I fell your pain dude, Sometimes when you reach down to pick someone up to help them out then they want you to carry them too. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

My advice would be to call him up and offer no more than $50 to $100 discount and tell him you had already cut your price and were up front with him about that from the get go. Tell him that any furthter discount will come directly out of your pocket and that you can not affford to do it any cheaper. You have to be careful though because some people are like sharks and if they detect just a hint of desperation its like they smell blood in the water.

Any way good luck man and I hope you reel this shark in!

You know what,

Better yet tell him you already gave him the best deal you can for the one job but if he agrees to give you all five stores then you would be able to work a better deal. No sense in cutting your own throat in hopes to get the other four stores but if you lock him in then it might be worth it to help him out. If he helps you then you help him.

Good luck again man, Im root'n for ya

Yes, thats a good way to go about it. :thumb I have done this before in the past and it was never a problem. :beer Basically he was looking for sun/heat blocking in regards to getting his glass tinted. All his bids were for solar film from the other company's. I matched the average of those quotes but was giving him security film with the same solar properties he wanted. That has normally made the deal in the bag, but he was trying to squeeze me & I stood tuff. If he calls the other bidding companies back to get quotes on security their price would be even higher. So....... its a waiting game now! :evilgrin
