Quick cut when you screw up

Recommended Posts

I occasionally mess up a roll up while installing it :dunno its not all the time but you know you have those cases where you know you should just redo it or you dont even get that option, its too f'ed to save.

So if I have this issue I will take the used liner off the floor spray the crap outta it an lay it up on my cutting board. Then lay a new piece of film over it and cut it from the template. I file my edges so a perfect top cut isnt needed. That being said a steady hand and years of tinting allows for it to be darn close, but ya file it anyhow so who cares.

Thats my way of getting a piece of tint cut quickly if I need to do a window over.

It sucks to ruin tint, I am usually installing the new piece within a few minutes of screwing up the old one.

:lol:lol2

I wonder what the savings of time really is though spraying down the liner, squeegeeing it up on the peeler, doing that vs just cutting a new peice from the roll..ride a blade along the top of the glass, cut 2 sides(bottom edge is all ready lined up). Does it REALLY save enough time to make it worth while :dunno

It saves me time.

The one thing that has kept me from posting tips is that most of ya'll know everything and dont need any help. So the newbs dont get much to read from cause no one posts unless its some ground breaking tip.

For me it saves me time, for others it might not. I dont cut on the car, except the top cut, everything else is done on my cutting board. But if I had not posted it no one would know either way.

I gotta admit I have other tips that would really help newer guys, but why post them if its old news or something that doesnt help all the top dogs.

Dude, keep posting whatever tips you have. It always helps somebody :lol6

I've always wondered why tips get scrutinized around here. IMO they should be left alone or added to not shot down :lol6

sa'll good guys, I dunno for me I can slam out a cut on that board in seconds rather than my other method that takes a few minutes. I'm too slow to begin with anyways :lol6

Ooooo! I had two new silverado's in for front roll ups and I used this method on the second truck, took the liner and cut the tint. I had the second truck done so quickly.
