JWF--Flatglass Film

Recommended Posts

I have used JWF off and on for a couple of years now for flatglass and pretty much exclusively for the past 3-4 months. I was using Suntek for awhile but couldnt get used to the handling of it(felt thin) so switched back to JWF. I know a few on here say they can't use it because it doesnt hold up in the Sun down under or in Arizona..etc.. I really cant otherwise see why alot more people don 't use it much :lol . Some reasons for at least giving them a try:

1. Prices are some of the lowest.

2. Clarity on the DR films compares to any other.

3. Long time being in business in the USA.

4. Awesome Dealer Rep--lots of info.

5. Customer service girls can sometimes screw up...but not alot.

6. Pre-Cut Program is great for those big jobs.

7. Many film choices with a nice detailed sample book.

8. I have only had one claim and it was on a film I hardly ever use. (champagne bubbles)

9. Film very forgiving and easy to work with.

I have only had flatglass experience with this film, so you auto guys, Im not sure how the auto line of films stack up against the others. I am sure I will get bombarded :lol2 with why not to use this film, which is fine, but for the guy starting out in the business or one man shows, this is a great choice because of the pre-cut program and the low pricing. Just wanted to pass this info on to anyone not familiar with it. :lol

:lol I always said their auto films didn't hold up out here in AZ, but never had a problem with any flat jobs I did while using their film :lol2:lol

and according to someone, (can't remember who) they just posted yesterday or the day before, that Johnsons redid their adhesive on their films, so mabye the auto line is better now too :lol2:lol2

Hard to remove the release liner on hot humid days. When you have to lay in 500 squares a day, you cannot when the liner does not remove easily.

Im not sure about the humidity being a problem since its usually cool in the houses I install in but you are correct, about every so often it is hard to get the corner started, I use the two peices of painters tape method, but as far as back rolling the liner always peels off nicely in my experience with it.

Been using their flat glass (DA only) for 8 years in AUS and never had one claim. The auto PS leaves something to be desired, but as agent 237 said, I think they've fixed the problem. :evilgrin Atleast I hope so.
