I want to tint my car myself

Hi!

I'm new here and new at tinting. I had 2 of my cars professionaly tinted and like it a lot in this crazy summer. I have 1 more car that I don't really want to pay for to get it tinted.

Afterall, I do all maintenance, etc. myself. I'm fine doing different stuff, so I decided to give it a try and do it myself. I watched guy doing 2 cars and I found bunch of videos, so I have some ideas on what to do.

If it doesn't work out - I will just take it off. There is nothing really that I can screw up.

What film do you suggest for something like that? I would stay with 20 and 35% Llumar (this is what he used) but it seems that I can't get any without license and in small quantities.

I don't need anything special. Maximum UV/heat protection and longest life with best clarity (vision). Plain black is what I need.

Can anbody suggest Walmart/Autozone/Etc brand that I can buy off shelf?

Thanks!

wow a 540! That's a really nice car. Look on my website, I have done quite a few of those and would like to have one myself. Yeah, take it to a pro and be done with it, you will be much happier.

:beer IMO walmart/checker/autozone etc etc etc film is not really what you would want to put on a BMW, it doesn't have that great a heat rejection, or clarity, and it will not last anywhere as long as the profesional film that you had installed on your other 2 vehicles.

Your best bet is to take it, and have it done.

That being said, if you have your heart set on doing it, just head to the auto parts store, and get enough film to do your car, 15' of 20" roll will cover all 4 doors, and 5' of a 36" roll will do your back window.

Good luck with your adventure :beer
