pierce8468
I have been using two different types of a torch for the past few months, and I have to admit I love them. One is a regular old bernzomatic propane torch, and the other is a mini butane versoin of the bernzomatic. I will describe what I use them both for and how well they work for a tint tool. The bernzomatic propane I use for a few differnt things, but more it less it is just used for drying the film very quickly. I use this torch to dry the top edge of a back glass, just before I go to put vinly on the matrix. I will take 3 passes along the top edge of the film then just walk away and go cut out my vinyl. by the time I am ready tto stick my vinly the film is dry. The torch takes about 30 seconds worth of heat, as opposed to 2-3 mins doing it with a heat gun. I also use this when I have doors that drop when opened. I will spend about 1-2 mins going over all edges of the glass on the outside with my torch, clean all of the tools out of the car, and the film is allready dry enough to not worry about anything. This is mucg faster then using a heat gun or heat lamp. If I have one of those cars that just keep fingering at the bottom. Then I will also use my torch along the bottom edge about an inch above the fingers, and heat the whole bottom in about ten seconds. go put the torch back, and by the time I get back to the car with my hard card, the heat has transfered down that the fingers will now lay right down! The micro torch I use for getting rid of fingers. This little bad boy will give you enough heat to lay any finger down in 3 seconds! if you have a couple of fingers just hit each one for 3 seconds, then knock them all down with one swipe. there is no use heat give it a swipe, try it again. Just hit it with some heat for 3 seconds and it is enough. Now time will vary depending on the torch that you use. some will be 2 seconds, some will be 4 seconds. That will all depends on how hot the torch gets. some get 1200 some get 2400 degrees. The reason they work so well is because you can focus all the heat exactly where you want it. They also work very well for the tight corners of 1/4 windows! When you have something in the corner that a heat gun will just melt the gasket, you can use the micro torch. of course you do still need to be careful of the gaskets, but you will see it will work wonders on those things. Now you can use a metal putty knife to help protect the gaskets. just put the putty kniife up against the gasket, and hit the glass with a few seconds of heat, and all troubles will be gone. Here is a pic of the micro torch I use. well not exactly the one I have, but similiar to the one I use. You can get them at Home Depot, Lowes anything like that in the plumbing dept
