Tint Suggestions

Well I just bought a new Pontiac Solstice GXP. Im having it Venture Shielded this Saturday and was looking to get it tinted at the same time. I was originally going to go with a Huper Optik film because of its high heat rejection but the shop Im bringing it to does not do Huper and suggested a 3M crystalline film. Finding info on the 3M is a pain to say the least. From what I have found it seems the 3M outperforms the Huper in CR40 form but the Huper is also availible in CR30.

My main concern is high heat rejection and UV/IR protection. Its a convertible and the windows will only be up at night and when its parked so I dont need a dark tint. In fact the lighter the tint the better but Ill give up vis for more heat rejection.

Im pretty ready to say go for it on the 3M in a CR40 but wanted to make sure there wasnt some other option that Im not concidering before I spend the money.

Im also debating doing the winshield as well in a CR70 but Im not sure if thats legal. Is there a full visible tint that still blocks heat?

It is illegal to have film on the windshield 70VLT included. Some folks tend to look the other way..

IMO the Huper out performs the 3M based on the hard coat issues and true color versus a bue shift. If you are thinking a non metallic type film you might consider the FormulaOne Pinnacle or the LLumar Axcess (sic)

The CP Films will be easier to install since they are made for curved car surfaces. they "shrink much better".

Everyone will have their opinion and I am sure the Solar Gard Ultra and perhaps V-Kool have films for cars particularly in arid climates like AZ.

I believe that the 3M product was recalled but my info might be somewhat outdated.

Then you dont need a ceramic tint! Because it will not matter what film you have on it. When a car sits for a while parked, it is going to get get hot as all hell, because the car itself is just a huge conductor of heat! Film only helps with heat reduction when the car is bieng driven with the ac on. If you plan on having your top down most times during the hot season, then just get a light metalized film.

Right, but his question is about heat reduction! A parked car will get hot as hell with or with out tint on it. The exterior of a car is metal, wich is a huge heat conductor, that will make his parked car extremely hot. Any film on a parked car will block the uv, wich is the main cause of fading!

Unless you listen to AM radio or have a GPS antenna, just get a full metal film. 3M Black Chrome, Llumar Platinum Plus, Global HP Fusion, Solar Gard Quantum, etc etc etc.

Super high heat rejection, lower cost.
