Best way to black out a sun roof ?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has a race car that is going to Kansas City on wed to race in a taping of Pinks. He just dropped off the car to me for tint and to put on the sponsor decals. He's going limo all around leaving windshield alone. It has a sun roof that they don't even care about and want it tinted or blacked out with vinyl so that no light comes through it. There is no dot matrix on it.

They really don't care for it nor how I black it out so I told him I'd just cover the sun roof with black vinyl on top. Can I do that? or will it generate and build up heat from the sun and cause the window to break?

I've done them in 5% and in vinyl as well, with no problems yet...

I did a Mustang that was on Pinks a few months ago.....

It lost to a CRX... He over powered the track and got his assbusted by a 4 banger.... :nono

But my artwork was on national TV for about a minute.... :gasp

Yup, it will be cool to have TV advertisement. I can't say anything about the car until after they come back.

It has a sun roof obviously because the car had one in it before it was turned into a race car.

I'm gonna do vinyl - if the glass breaks at least the vinyl will keep the glass together. :?

Where did this the sunroof will crack rumor come from? The sunroof is tempered glass like the rest of the car! For one the back window does not break, and that takes the brunt of the heat, 2 Even tempered flat glass can have any film you llike applied, and 3 tempered glass does not crack it explodes into little fragments, so how would it crack because it is a sunroof
