Rubbing alcohol = Isopropyl Alcohol. Widely available in any pharmacy/dr*g store. You can get it in 70% thru 91%. OK to use in a pinch, BUT...

What you can get in the hardware stores you have been going to is DENATURED alcohol. (Ethyl alcohol, 95% or better Grain alcohol, that has been "De-natured", or made unfit for human consumption) Another source is at paint and body shop supply stores. Thats what I prefer using anyway. Good for cleaning windows, adding to soap/slip solution for added "Tacking", making glue appear after you've "Cleaned the glass" to make sure you got it all, the list goes on...........................

No, Nail polish remover is Acetone, and will wreak havoc on car interiors!!! Melts plastic like a torch!! STAY AWAY from it!!

As for diluting it, that depends on what you are using it for. :twocents

I mostly want to use it to clean the windows, and I liked the tip about using it to turn glue white, I have took tint off a car before and spent ages looking for bits of glue I missed, and of course when you redo it u find a bit you missed.
