Hello to all, :dwiwd

PLEASE HELP!!! :poop

Aight, look here, I tinted in a shop for a straight summer... started out detailing, then 1/4 windows, then roll ups, etc... I just joined here and I see I lot of s**t I never knew, and for anyboy that say hit the search, I already did.

What I wanna hear about is mostly back glass... by the time I left the shop I was okay at it, but I wanna get better, I always used soap and water, never baby powder, or soap, or anything... I wanna learn the SOAP METHOD. Is this easier to dry shrink with, from reading and watching vids it definitlely looks easier than soap and water... just want some input... and when I tinted, or even others in the shop, we rarely took anything out... maybe the rear deck of a Caprice, but that was about it, it seems like y'all remove everything! Gaskets and what not... what exactly is a gasket, I have an idea, maybe I just call it something else... and as far as the seal on the inside of the window, we just always tucked them down... and what's this about this rolling the tint technique? That's new too... I still tint here and there, but I want to get my skills better... especially since I'm about to tint my new Charger and I want it flawlesss... I have tools and everything, and I just ordered even more to have EVERYTHING I had at the shop... and btw, I use Global... that's all I was exposed to, plus that's what everyone in the area uses.... just everyone chip in and give their $0.02 please... Thx.

I couldn't see where to edit, but I have always 2-Pieced back glass, does the soap method make 1-Piecing easier? I wanna start doin that with all my back glass, that way I don't have to worry about my cut...

That's probably 2/3 of your shrinking problem there. Soap method get a bar of ivory soap, put it in a towel and wet it and rub it around the whole window and let it dry. Suntek or nearly all other films shrink much easier than global, all though I like the color of global and would like to use it more I can't shrink it for :dwiwd .

I'm gonna try the method out, I'm out of town on an internship now, but when I get home I got a shitload of cars to do before I go back to school... I even printed out the instructions on how to do it [lol], so I've read it and understand it for the most part... so you wet the towel and leave the soap in there then rub the window, or rub the soap on the towel then rub the towel on the window? Sorry if that's a noob question...

whats that about chippin in $0.02? what you lookin money for?

:dwiwd

as for dry shrinking I been using powder since I started and only started using soap method, give it about six months a lot of wasted film and an empty wallet an you will get simple back glass done in one piece. lol. it aint goin to hit you overnight. I been doin rear screens since I started and I still get caught out by some simple windows.

good luck
