Last year I dumped about $250 on a 5 foot roll of SunTek standard 35%. I was talking to a guy who owns a tint shop and says he hears lots of problems with that tint (not sure if he meant the standard suntek or just all suntek) anyways, he says it peals right off the window and its flimsy. Is thicker tint better tint? I tried 3 times to do my door today and failed all 3. I am an amature tinter so I guess thats expected. I then grabbed a roll of 20% I bought a few years ago from some wholesale window tinting company. It was dirt cheap and turned blue over time. Just for shits and giggles I tinted it in the 20% cheap stuff and came out mint the first time and was very easy to work with...I know this is a played out topic of who has better tint, and who is too expensive. Im not one of those people who are here to learn how to do a home job and save a buck. Im really interested in this business and want to learn so no smart ass comments from the peanut gallery..hahaha jk.

so for someone in my position, what would you recommend being the best tint to learn on and does thickness play a roll in how poor or good a tint is? thanks in advance.

:nono It all depends, some people have an easier time when first learning with a thinner film, I personally prefer a thicker film, but can work with either.

IMO for just learning the business, go with a cheaper film rather than the "better" "more expensive" films, as you will wind up wasting alot of it while learning :poke

haha, if I remember correctly it was like $250 for a 60" roll I had cut into 36/24. I forget the exact amount it was like a year ago. Figured it would be a good place to start learning and then I got caught up in my sign business and regular job so kinda put tinting off for awhile...

so back to the topic...I guess it is all personal preferance...

as far as learning goes my patience, or lack there of is getting the better of me. I think my biggest problem is taking my time. I need to slow it down and not worry if it takes a bit longer until my experience grows...

Im waiting for a call back from a pro who might take me under his wing for an even exchange for some signs.

I have some ok experience...I guess you could say im a few notches up from a DIY'er but still a long long way to go...if I kick around a pro tint shop for a few weeks I think ill get the hang of it. Im good with my hands and catch on easily. I know there are many aspects to tinting, one that its just a skill some people either have or don't have but from what I see im on the right road and think I have what it takes to master this.

A lady I work with got her car done today and for the money he made and the time he spent to tint her 05 audi I would be stupid not to want to learn it. I have people asking me all the time if it tint and I have to tell them im a novice and it kills me. I feel so stupid...haha that and I hate turning down a buck! lol
