Hi everybody, my name is Jason, I am new to this forum. I am starting a new business. I own a 40" DGI plotter with computercut software. Just wanted to ask a few questions. and get some info if possible. I have tinted windows in the past by hand, they havent been perfect, but they were ok. What are some commonly known problems you run into in this industry? I know about heat shrinking windows, I havent personally done one, but I know the technique, read alot of forums, and watched a lot of videos.

My company is called PRO AUDIO and we are in southern Indiana, I put my business plan together about 6 months ago and have been working on getting financed but its been trouble so I am just gonna start out mainly window tinting and have a little inventory for audio/video etc.etc.

About my plotter.............

1. Do you cut off how much tint your gonna need from the roll before you start plotting or do you leave it attached to the roll.

2. For people with a DGI plotter, what is your settings on tint as far as the offset and the force?

3. Which side of the tint is facing upwards when its under the pressure rollers?

4. My rent is $650 a month for a 26oo sq ft. building. I got a really good deal. My town is about 25K people. With being the only tint shop in town, how many cars do you think I would tint a day?

Thanks

I would HIGHLY recommend working for someone else or go to a training class or something. You cant just jump into the market and f up cars left and right untill you can learn the ropes. By that time you'll ethier go broke wasting film and giving refunds or damaged your reputation beyond repair.

It can be done, take your time and dont just jump into tint because you think it has a lower startup cost versus your original plan. You should really come up with a whole new business plan.

Welcome, its about to be a wild ride.

Thanks, I understand what you guys are saying and im not arguing it. Like I said, I have tinted vehicles in the past and a large office building, the only problem I had with automotive tinting, is getting my cuts clean, laying it, I had not problem. This is why I bought the 40" plotter, to make sure I get that factory edge look. But yes, your right, I am practicing some more right now on family and friends cars, I done two cars today for practice without the plotters help and I did well. Thanks for you help, if I have any questions, ill be sure to ask!!!

THANKS
