DIY HEADLINER

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I am wanting to redo my headliner in my 84 GMC.

What type material is commonly used for this? Is it something that I can just go down to a fabric store and get?

I saw the "Heads up headliner kit" for DIY fixes. I thought about getting one of those but I cant find one in my town.

I just ordered some black faux micro suade. I am going to give that a shot. I have seen it on new trucks and I want to see what it will look like on my trizzzzuck.

I might even try and get jiggy with the door panel in areas or something.

Anyways I am down for trying anything and getting jiggy with it :beer

Make sure you foam back it or you will see every bump in it.... :beer

The stuff I use is called street suede, it looks like the real thing to the untrained eye.

I'm doing a 2 tone with street suede inserts on my daughters civic.

I'll show pics soon... you'll likey.... :nope:lol2:lol2

When you do it mdog lay the material over the board fold back half spray 1/2 board and material let it sit a few min and get tacky then lay down and smooth out then repeat on other side the trim off exess with razor (I have done plenty of headliners and find it easier to to one side at a time) :beer

That's one way, have you ever tried laying the material down and flipping the board over

onto it so the edges stick slightly.

Then flip back over pop edges up then smooth from center out....

I do a ton of L.Rover Discoverys' and especially when I do them alone, I do them this way.

If I think about it, next one I do I will video it...
