Guest tintwerx
We tinted a 2005 Mach 1 about 3 weeks ago. The customer's father calls this morning saying that the rear window seems to be "cracked" in 2 spots,so Iask him to bring the car by so I can see it. When the customer arrived and pointed them out I was shocked. The rear glass in the upper left and right corners looked to be delaminating or bubbling(3 or more inches out from the tintable portion of the window). Not to mention the fact that you must look very carefully to even see them, and as the story goes the last person to even touch the car is at fault. Well I guess my question to this forum is has anyone else seen or heard of this sort of thing and what they learned about the situation. I have seen this a million times before on older cars across the whole top and bottom of the glass where bubbles seem to form between the glass and the black Dot Matrix material. Any input or 2 cents regarding this matter would be appreciated. and yes he said "we'll I'm goona sue you then"...Thanks for any help. BT
Guest Marco
I don't know how the law works where you are but if there was a problem it should have been brought back within 24-48 hours not three weeks and how did they not notice a crack for that long? Guest Olfablade
Sounds like the rear window may have been removed/or replaced, and the marks are from that process, not the tinintg

You can show that literally thousands of Mustangs are tinted with no problems. He's gonna have to show how it was the tinting process that caused the problem. Prick probably won't sue you anyway. I'd be more than happy to write you a letter, and I am sure a few others on this board would also, attesting to the fact that I have tinted literally hundreds in my career with no probs. Just be nice, but firm. Unless you are pulling an LB55 or some weird thing, there is NO WAY the glass should bubble. On most cars, its not even laminated glass! Now if it's in the black "Frit" area, I have seen NEW Caravans where the Black Shiot was not applied evenly, and it did look for all the world like it was delaminating. wndotint
Yeah, what KW said. I have never seen tempered glass crack. It always ruptures. I HAVE seen where the frit looks bad from the outside, but it's nowhere near where the film is.

Guest darkdan
I'd have to say 2 years in the sun causes a lot more heat then 7 minutes with a heat gun.
Tinitman
Tempered windows do not crack, they explode into millions of small pieces leaving one hellofa mess I agree with Olfa, might have been removed and reinstalled. The hook knife could have easily cut the area.
Mdog
A couple years ago I saw a post similar to this on a mustang forum. It was the previous body style. The poster talked about the glass rubbing against the metal of the car on the top corners causing weird looking places on the corners of the glass. This may be happening on the new body style also.
