Ok it is not illegal for a shop to tint your front windows. So why would it be illegal to double it up? I know it can be done I had it on my integra for like 4 years with no problems. I just need to know where I can get it done here in orange county. Is there anyone that can help? Thanks

Thanks It is !llegal to drive on public roads with your front windows tinted. It is not !llegal to tint them. First of all, I am not a kid. Second of all having tinted windows is not a felony. It is a simple fix it ticket. Someone please move this to the appropriate forum. Thanx. WRONG!!! READ the law! It IS, in fact, !llegal to apply film "not on compliance." It can be punished by loss of business license (IF the shop even has one), a $5000 fine, and up to one year in jail. Depends on the jurisdiction, and how vigorously they enforce it. Go try and have a muffler shop cut out your catalytic converter. Same principle. What really pisses me off is the lack of enforcement, or SELECTIVE enforcement. If it's !llegal, by god, shut down the shops doing it! Now THAT would be a GOOD thing for our industry. The $99 dollar shops would be gone, Stereo shops would be selling just that, and pricing would return to a reasonable level. Quality would again be important. They will never stop the "backyard" job, but by and large, it would REALLY clean up the Biz. ALOT of erstwhile legit shops will tint illegally ONLY because they have to compete with the shops who will do it. NOW! If they are NOT gonna enforce it.........Change the law. It seems to me the public speaks VOLUMES by getting darker than legal. The VAST majority of my custys want darker than the law currently allows. And I am not talking kids, or 'bangers. John Q Yuppie, Aunt Mabel, Grandma and Grandpa Smith. They all want it a bit darker. 90% of my custys would be extremely satisfied with 20%. But those who know whats best for us have taken the descision away from us. Not one cop I have spoken with feels any safer with the tint laws. To justify them by citing LEO safety is absurd. Wanna try sumthin new and exciting on a week-night? Go to ANY LEO or law enforcement forum and start this discussion. The responses MIGHT suprise you!! WRONG!!! He can find a shop (or 10) in any city that will do it, and do a decent if not good job! All he has to do is get off his computer sittin' ass and go look. He definately won't find one here tho, but with a bare minimum of effort on his part................. A better response would have been "you wont find any LEGIT tinter with ethics to do it more....." Sadly, this forum aside, thats just not the case in our industry.
