Ever heard this one before guys?

Recommended Posts

Had a guy come in with a Nissan 350Z. He wanted it tinting but wanted to make sure that the film held up along the dot matrix. He had seen one done before and really liked the look of the whitish strip around the glass and wanted to make sure you could see it. :lol2

After spending all my years trying to eliminate this kind of finish, its time to learn another new technique.

The best idea I had was to squeegee the water out to the sides but apply a lot less pressure around the matrix to get the film to hold up a bit on thew dots. Think I achieved it but Im a bit worried it will flatten down when it dries properly. Ah well, will see what happens. :lol2

There is a picture of how it came out here on my website. You get an idea of how the rear quarter glass looked anyway -

Anyone got any idea how to get the film to hold up on the dots, please let me know? :beer

If yer luck is anything like mine, when you TRY and make the dots stand out, the things will lay perfectly black!!! :lol2

I once had a kid come in back in the EARLY 90's wanting the "Reverse" curved lines that intersected the defroster lines :poop , I didn't know what he was talking about untill he drew it on the back glass. He actually WANTED the back glass done in 5 or 6 pieces so the seams intersected the defogger!!!! He said (and I quote) "That looks SO professional!!! :thumb Go figger! :lol2

It's a sick world...and I'm a happy guy!!

I had a guy that wanted this done on a vw gti. I cut to the inside of the matrix and the guy loved it! That was the only way I could think of to do it.

using a metal film will not work.

gotta use a more blacker, dye type of film. :dunno

do you mean the matrix looks better with dyed films or worse?

this is the reason why... I keep a roll or two of entry NR/SG handy for cases like this. On 350z/Vet/911 dots are a big concern with custys. Cheap film wins in the dot dept. Save the ATR & CH/COOL for Impalas that will be left in the driveway for ten years.

you mean the matrix problem goes away with a dyed film? :poop, what am I doin wrong then? :poop. I'm using Carbon? lol.

anyways, I'd love to know how to get rid of those stuppppid dots!

Some dyed films work much better than others... BEK & MADDY have more aggressive glue than Ll & ST's numerours entry lines :poop.... darker films help just as TINT mentioned...... After reading the first post the custy wants the dots to show :poop
