Buried 1957 Plymouth Belvedere

Recommended Posts

The 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was placed in a time capasule along with many various items from the day, was unearthed in Tulsa Oklahoma today. The car had been buried fifty years ago and was being unearthed this week as part of Oklahomas Centennial statewide celebration. People have come from six different countries to view this wonder. Well......... when the concrete top was lifted off of the vault hundreds of gallons of water were found to be inside covering half of the car. The plastic bag that the car had been placed in was broken near one of the rear fins. So apparently the car has been under water for quite some time.

Other measures that were taken to try and protect it were cosmolene, which various parts of the car had been coated with. All in hopes that the car would come out in pristine shape and be driven off that day.

Boyd Coddington has apparently made plans to be there for the cars unveiling. Along with his crew to see what they could do pending the outcome of the cars condition.

So......what do you guys think they'll be able to do with this rust bucket? Think any of it made it OK? I doubt it.

I'm sad though. I had made plans to see it this Friday and I've been looking forward to the event for a while now. I saw the pictures of it tonight on the news channel, KOTV 6. Sick, sick, sick. :spit

THe news this morning said that the tickets that were sold out for the main event. :spit They also stated that there was three feet of water in the vault. Also that they had many back up plans for that, even including the possibility of the car being in water. I'm still sad this morning.

:spit:spit
