Looking through Window Film Mag came across article from Madico

PPF for the windshield called ClearPlex comes with a one-year or 12,000,00 mile warranty.

Has anyone heard of this? :thumb

Yep, do a search there is quite a few threads on here about it :lol2

:lol2 a homie on the site :lol2 hooked me up with a piece for my windshield plus some scrap to practice with...let me tell you it is a strange shrink. I havent gotten a new windshield to put the stuff on but when I do it's gonna be a challenge :beer I put some on a display window I have and was dropping screw drivers on it...worked great, messed up the film but no marks on the glass :beer

I went to Utah back in January to the clearplex headquarters. They had some windshields pre-fitted before we got there. They had a sling shot on a stand on the same table. We were blasting all kinds of stuff at the glass w/ clearplex and some without and I'm telling you what... that stuff really works.. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't messed with it myself.

Shrinking it is a bit weird to get used to, but it is possible.

Removing it is fairly easy (all things considered)

it is VERY durable. In January, one of the guys there had some on his BMW that we were going to remove and replace (to see how easily it came off) and he had salt residue and just the usual junk on it. I took an ice scraper and LAID on it and tried to scrape the hell out of it. There were VERY VERY fine scratches here and there... nothing major at all, AND it held up to some 0000 steel wool as well :lol2

again, woldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. any other questions??? (I've installed it on our company car, and 2 employees cars so far) :beer

Mine lasted about 6 months.

It was doing well until the end of winter and then my ice scraper started to scratch it.

Removed cleanly. It left about 2 patches of glue and that's about it.

But all things considered, I'd say it saved me plenty of windshields.

Sadly, on saturday a rock hit my windshield and put a nice little hole into my brand new clearplex. I was upset. =( Oh well, I'll redo it next year.

Supposedly since the batch I have they redid it again (now on the 3rd gen at least) and the new SR coating is 4x harder than what I currently have.

It's a niche product and a wear item. Keep that in mind. It has its uses, but don't expect it to last 10 years.
