Superpages - any response from ads?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has his business listed in superpages.com and gets calls... he said alot of price shoppers though... (he mostly does auto)

So I was looking at it the other day.. put in an ad, but it is location specific. In order to have it show in my whole state, I have to pay.. It's like $350 a month.

Now, that's a lot, IMO. I currently do not advertise in any paper phone book... online I use google adwords and craigslist.

Today I got a call for a last min. job that I'm going to do... so I was thinking since I wasn't expecting this job (not that I really expect any job I get) I would use the funds from that job and try running my ad for one month. If I get enough return to pay for the next month, fine... if not, I'll zap it.

Does anyone advertise there? (Who is not in Verizon's phone book already - which I assume gives you a free ad on superpages) Do you get calls from it?

The name of the game is getting yourself known..... so I've been trying to widen out in that area this season.

I use super pages for the free listing. Paying to be put at the top of the list doesn't make much sense because people searching on the internet do not care what order your company shows up and I'm sure you get a contract for a set amount of time, so if you don't like it your stuck.

The easiest way to get state wide is to submit to state specific searches yourself, I'll find a few for you.

Hey man, Definitely get a website if you already dont have one. When people search commercial or residential window tinting in my area I am listed in the top 5 on google and top 3 on yahoo. I have got my last 12 jobs from my website. If you need help setting one up..let me know I will help u out. I designed and update my site myself and only costs 10 buck a month for the server space. Also get an actual business line so you can be listed in the paper books for free.

If that's directed to me, I already got a site.... and I've actually gotten a number of requests from it this past month. Couple jobs... I've also started to list on craigstlist, which while I've only gotten one job from it thus far, it's free so I'm on the plus side of that one. :spit

As for my # - I have a business line but it's with vonage, so I'm not in any books. And no, I won't go thru the old style phone systems to be listed. :poke

All in all I'm getting a little bit from pretty much everything I've been doing, I just need to get more. :spit I have two more est. that are out - which if they book I'll be at my goal for the month. (I aim low... easier to hit!)

I have about 300 more door hangers to put out next week... and a bunch of designers to call. Hopefully I'll get a lead or two from that.

WOOHOO!

yellowpages.com called me today and said it was time to renew. I told them, "No it isn't. Cancel it."

Sweet, there's less wasted money.

I went back over my expenses, and I don't have the funds currently... I added wrong. Doh! But I'd still like to give it a shot for 30 days.. so hopefully in a week or so I'll be able to do it.
