a Greenhouse...

Recommended Posts

So prior to just tinting and trying to start a tint business, I worked in a nearby greenhouse for like 3 years. they just upgraded to these really cool touch screen monitors for their checkout stations and, well, they're having a huge problem with glare on them. so bad, that at certain times of the day, they have to shut down certain registers. they're wondering if tint can help reduce the problem. the one thing is, is the manager wants people to still be able to see in from the road. I know this is a give and take so im going in to talk to them tomorrow or tuesday (I have to call my old boss to talk to her :lol6 )

My huge concern is about the dust though. the registers are in the area where people shop, and where the retail plants are. it's realllllly dusty in there. so I think I might have to do it on a slow day, or in the morning when the crowd is small so the dust is less. I dont know. I guess wet the shizznit out of the window too. any ideas? This is a challenge. I'll get some pics for you guys when I get out there.

:poke. 27 views and no one has any ideas? lol. I went in there today (they were busy. no pics :thumb ) but they liked the idea.... sooo... who knows. I threw a price at them and they think it'll be do-able. I just hope it's doable for me! :lol2

:rollin I read this thread earlier but was thinking...."ok, they want to see the screens (which means it has to be darker) but they want to see in (so it cant be too dark)" I have had gov't agency's (the liquor store) want to be able to see their screen but be able to see in for security reasons. the only solution we came up with was a neutral 20%. to be honest it still wasnt dark enough...but it at least made things bearable.

as far as the dust factor...will they let you wet the floor a slight amount? Not enuff (yes I know how to spell it but its faster this way) to be slippery....but enuff to attract the dust to the floor? :mad

When I have people who want to see in and cut glare -- I use the solar shades. They can either move them up and down, or just cut the light from the upper part of the windows. I've also installed exterior silver on the top portion of the outside of the windows.

Glare reduction and Visibility are obviously inversely proportional.

yep yep. I explained this to them. they're still really interested, because it's this or move the registers, and apparently the owner is completely opposed to moving the registers :lol2

money for me :lol

wetting the floor is really good idea. that wont be a problem at all. when I worked there, I had to wet the floor to sweep to keep the dust down for the custy's. good call. tahnks for the idea :lol2

Or if they have the money go with Geoshield 30 or another dark ceramic.

It's dark enough to block some glare, but non-reflective enough to help maintain inward visibility.
