Hello all.

I am looking for security film for my townhouse. My neighbor's house was broken into, the crook came through the kitchen window. I have an alarm system, 2 security cameras and I just installed a nice security bar on my window, it is sturdy, white and you can't tell it is there, (I refuse to go with jail bars) however, I want to get some additional measures to slow down any crooks who try to break in.

I looked into this website, www.diywindowsecurity.com. What do you think of DIY kits. Can anyone possibly recommend a good company in the MD area that won't overcharge me? I have one kitchen window, sliding glass door and 2 windows in the front that I would like to have work on.

Thanks so much. :beer

"overcharge"?? The question might be just what is the security worth to you. I don't think I would recommend a DIY film kit for anything and def not for a security film....you have to squeegee that film really well and hard or you will have bubbles for months and the film won't be bonded as well.

Security film is not for the DIY'r. There is more to anti-intrusion that just installing the film. Call a well-seasoned pro. :beer

Beowolf,

I have been installing S&S film for 20+ years, and the ONLY way I would encourage DIY kits would be if I was selling them! They are not easy to install as the purveyors would have you believe. In fact seasoned solar control film installers have problems when first trying to install security film. Save yourself ALOT of aggravation and Valium......Let a pro do it!!! You'll sleep better at night!!! :beer

I would also recommend a company to do it and not the Destroy it yerself kit. It will be a great aggervation for u and wont be as good of an install as a company will do. As far as the overcharging goes a company's price is a companies price, go with someone you are comfortable with.
