As I understand new tax rules, the material price has to be separated from the labor costs.

On your invoice, but don't you mark up your film, when you sell it :mad:krazy

Dude,

The material costs are the price you sell to them for, not the cost YOU pay. Just break it down on your invoice at whatever ratio you feel comfortable with.

For example, I calculate sales tax for flat glass based on materials being 1/3 of the total price. The markup of the materials is whatever you say it is.

job total: $100

Materials: $33

Labor: $67

6% sales tax: $1.98

OR,

I could do it at:

job total: $100

materials: $50

labor: $50

sales tax: 3.00

It doesn't matter what MY cost of the film is, I can "sell" it at a Profit or loss. The customer uses the invoice you give them to file the credit.
