It's my first time!!!

Recommended Posts

So I've got to tint these windows next week. upper ones will have hanitatek bronze 20 and every other window will have bronze 35. it should look nice. it's a nice subdivision too. A lot of wings/pistons players live there. Anyways. I'm going to borrow a big A frame style ladder from my girlfriend's dad. He's a painter. is there a trick to tinting on a ladder? Thanks in advance :spitpost-19552-1180900896.jpg

how about those half circles up at the top? How are those? Should I cut the tint with adhesive side facing the glass, and then cut it to fit before I put it on, or should I cut an oversized half circle, clean it and get that shizznit up on there real quick like to avoid contaminants?

On archs I measure it, pull out the right size piece of film, then I cut off the dog ears. Then I lay it up there with the liner facing the window, cut it out, clean window, slap it on.

After you cut that first you can use the liner as a template to rough cut (over cut it 1/2" to 1") the rest.

Kills me to hear people getting these types of jobs and don't even have the equipment to do it or not sure how to cut out a 1/2 moon window. Im not trying to bust your balls Want2 but how do you even start to figure your customers charge if your not sure what its going to take to do a certain job? Oh and I would make sure that A-frame is at least a 14ft type unless you like balancing on the last rung. Good Luck!

I understand where your coming from, but the guy is a friend of the family's.. we'll, the wife, and the daughter are friends with my mom and sister. anyways, that's why I have the job. The charge, as of right now, isnt my biggest concern. I make sure to cover my costs, and I figure in some labor for profit. I do this, because I'm still learning, and going slower than someone who has 10 years FG.

I definitely don't want to balance on the last rung!!! :beer which is definitely why I asked!! I'm actually afraid of heights and ladders. I can do them, I just don't like them. :beer <--I'm gonna get crap for that!!! I will talk to my girlfriend's dad and see what he can loan me for a day I nthe way of a ladder.

p.s. if you live near Detroit, you can come help me for a day and some pay. lol.
