First off I'd like to start off by saying hi, my names mike and I've frequented this site for a while, and just finally decided to register. The reason being is my step-father has an 03' Chevy Silverado ext. cab. The back three windows are tinted from the factory, and he wants to tint the fronts to match. My question for you pros is, would anyone happen to know what % the factory tint is? Any help would be appreciated. And on A side note, I'm kind of upset that he doesn't want me to do the tinting for him. He's seen all of my work I've done on the cars that I've owned and has said that I do good work, but he said he'd like a warranty in case anything every goes wrong. So I guess it's understandable.

Factory "privacy tinted" glass usually meters around 20%.

Check your local laws, in most or all states that is darker than the legal limit for the fronts... :spit

Yeah it's in virginia. The laws here are 35% backs and 50% on the front two. Thanks for the heads up.

check the etching in the corner of the glass...it seems to me it has the number right there doesnt it?

I'm going over there later today I'll check into that, Thanks.

Well if anything goes wrong.....you'll be around to fix it.

The thing I'm most worried about down here is the fact that I don't know any of the shops around here, and what I have heard/ seen is that most of them are start up companies.

I moved here last year from Philadelphia, my parents have been here longer but they don't know either. And that's the scary part. My step father is one of those bargain hunters, which I don't think is good in this situation.

Like for example, my sister's boss just took his car to one place who said that the tint woulnd't stick to the back of his bmw, thay said they tried three times. He took it around the corner to another shop and they did it right away, but her boss said they gave him an attitude.

If anyone knows of any respectable quality shops in the valley region of VA, and could recommend someone I'd be grateful.

If things ever get hairy with the local tint shops in your area, do what a lot of other N.J/A.C, Pen/philly and other snowballer states do. Visit New York, One third of my customers are tourists. :spit
