Rear defrosting dots at edge and tinting

At the edge of my rear window (Subaru Outback hatchback), like probably most vehicles, there are dots that I assume are associated with the window defroster.

The film on my tint job covers these dots.

After tinting (2 days ago) I noticed today that along the edge in some places it is dark to the edge, but in others the film seems to not be pressed into the dots and as a result there is a silverish look when you look at the edges around the window.

The installer told me that this will go away as soon as the film totally dries and not to touch it. To me, not knowing jack about tinting, it looks/feels like the edges need to be pressed down, even applying a wet cloth perhaps.

I'm sure you window tinters on this discussion board deal with this day in and day out. Do I wait and do nothing or what?

Thanks,

Steven

Well, what did the window tinter tell you to do?

It's not cancer treatment, you don't need a second opinion.

Sadly, those dots around the edge are problematic. Sometimes after the film has dried fully pressing it down correctly will make them stick, sometimes it won't. Sometimes you'll get patches that it sticks, sometimes you won't get it to stick anywhere.

Such is life.

the "dots" are a put on with a screen print style and they are not evenly thick.....so the tint will not be even no matter what.....part of the headaches of tinting.

There are many issues that consumers can pick apart on tint jobs..perimeter dots shouldn't be one of them..if your happy with the rest of the job: (no creases, airbubbles, tight edges on doors, etc), that's the main thing :thumb
