Why can't people just let go??

So I did an est. the other week... the place I used to work for did it the day before. Homeowner called them back and they matched my price, so they went with them.

I go out to her neighbor's home today to do a quick window... I did some others for her last summer. She tells me that my x-boss was bad mouthing me to her neighbor... saying all kinds of garbage.

I've been gone for 4 years... you'd think this guy would just let it go already. :thumb

I'm not exactly thrilled with driving all over the place, but this is one of the reasons I don't push for local jobs. One of my reasons for going out on my own was to have less stress... so I target out of my local area so I don't have to deal with this :beer

There have been plenty of people that I've had a legitiment (sp?) reason to be mad at them, and even then I get over it in a short time. Life is way too freaking short, and honestly, work is so not even important on the grand scale of things.

Rant over. I now return you to your already in progress program. :beer

:beer :thumb Some people just live for the drama. Some want to bad mouth their comp. because they are insecure in their own professionalism.

Badmouthing competition is the sign of a weak salesman and an immature person, it will bite him on the ass in it's own way, don't sweat it. :thumb

My brother is in the same situation. He used to work for the guy in town, quit about 4 years ago and now competes with him all the time and he badmouts the chit out of my brother. We need to do a solo tint off on a 60"x80" window and see who does the better job :thumb The badmouthing has bit him in the arse many times though, lots of consumers frown on someone badmouthing somebody, as long as my brother actually gets to give the estimate 95% of the time he gets the job. It's childish and jealousy if you ask me. Also if the guy runs into my brother he acts like the best friend in the world then talks chit behind his back :ahole

Yeah the woman I tinted the window for today that was telling me what he was saying to her neighbor said she would never use someone like that... and I know she's not alone.

Of course, since I tinted windows for her last summer I would hope she would use me again as well... :thumb

A guy I know, his famous saying is "The more dirt we throw, the more ground we loose", but the funny thing is everytime I have the misfortune of running into him, he's always talking trash about someone :poke :poke :lol2 :thumb :beer

The first competitor I ever had did this to me. He had the town to himself until I opened up.

I had people coming by every few days telling me "we didnt even know you were here till such and such said you were terrible or some crap like that." I just sold them on my work and kept pluggin. He was out of business in less than 2 years after I opened up.

My competitor now in my town is a good guy and there are no problems. I probably send him 500.-1000.00 worth of work a month on stuff I wont do :lol2
