Depends on how much money you got and how willing you are to fight for the darker tint. Here in Ga, and a few other states, you can be ticketed regardless of whether the tint is legal in your home state(registration). The law is standing because NOBODY has contested it yet.

Before we got married, I spent as much or more time here in Ga than I did at my house in Tn. Some cop realised this and kept ticketing me for not getting Ga tags after 30 days of "residency". I even backed my car in a few times.Pain in the ass cuz each ticket required a court appearance only to get it dismissed. I fought each ticket, because at the time, My address was in Tn, but I also had a house in Fla, and spent ALOT of time here in Ga. Does that mean I have to have tags in all three states?

In short, follow the regs for the state your car is registered in. But be prepared for hassles. Or do what they want and go with the lighter tint to avoid the hassles. It's your choice.....

I was pulled over in a state I had recently moved to, I was advertising my local(tinting) business on my windows. I had out of state tags, officer tried to write me a ticket. I told him he couldn't because my car was registerd in another state. :thumb The same office pulled me over 3 or 4 months later, this time he gave me a ticket for my window tint. :lol2 He told me if I lived in this state for over 90 days I was considered a resident. One of many lessons learned over the years!! :lol2

      I just realized this forum might be only for the professional tinter. I'm a DIY'er and was hoping to get some expert advice on selecting the best "home product" to apply to my windows on my home in order to reduce/control the heat coming through the windows. If this is not allowed, maybe someone can point me in the right direction for DIY. Thank you!

      Gull wing system install

      Both can be challenging; Gullwing already has the adhesive with a liner that needs to be removed and pressure applied to seat the adhesive with as few air pockets as possible. Any hiccups means a do over with each strip. Think about how it would look from the outside, not to mention the task of keeping it evenly aligned as you move along each strip. Practice makes progress, not perfection. I've got a few feet of white left over from my days in the industry and I can assure anyone will be challenged to install the stuff. What I have is predecessor of Gullwing and I cannot remember what they called it back then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dow995 structural sealant is akin to working with peanut butter; it can be messy, but once dry it has a much cleaner look to a Gullwing with air pockets trapped. Sealant can easily drip or contact unwanted surfaces, making clean up fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Either way, if there's any need for removal after a lengthy period of time, it could be work intensive to not do damage to the frame. Also, for both, you are best of waiting no less than one week film dry time (sun exposure and or warm and dry weather conditions) before applying any anchoring system, lest you find yourself with film lift in areas where the anchoring system was under stress to pull away.
