New to Board Wanting to become a tinter!

First I would like to say Hello to everyone. I am a new member to this board.

I am currently a Paint Protection Installer in Maine. I was trained back in august, however the business isn?t taking off up he even remotely, but I enjoy the work. I guess what I am wondering is how hard is it to pick up the tinting trade considering I have some background in PPF.

How would you suggest I go about learning?

I've only been at it for a short time so maybe it will change. ..But I enjoy what I have done so far....

They offer tint courses like PPF, look up flatrockstan on here.

Tinting and PPF are only similar because you're laying something with glue onto a vehicle and squeegeeing.

Otherwise, it's a whole different game.

Perhaps, you should work harder at getting the PPF going stronger. More dealerships, perhaps free sales training for the dealership staff, look to other types of places (motorcycle shops, etc).

Otherwise, becoming good at tinting takes time and money.

your ppf expeience won't help you in tinting but if you want to learn there is traing out there but it will take you alot longer to master.

Hit up some tintshops...find a good one...tell em you have a year with ppf and would like to get into tinting....

Not all tint shops are into ppf....try to find one that is.

Mastering both of these fields will be rewarding. The consumer awareness of PPF is up. I talked to trained PPF installers that have quit due to lack of work at the dealer level. I belive the new car dealers worked them to hard and then pimped them for the $$$..... My film rep thinks half of the trained ones plain suck.
