No show car is complete without the tint :mad I bought my car tinted two years ago. I am very big in the show shine & audio area with my car. I got a fix it within a month in the town of Vestal here in NY for my tint. A fix it ticket and I was clueless back then (at age 16) and took the tint off, got rid of the ticket then re did them at 20% (about the same).

I broke a driver glass that winter, re did that at 15%. Been fine for the last year and a half.

I decided my tint wasn't dark enough (that and the rear 3 windows were purplish from their age) and had my car retinted. I've been to the same tinter many times so he gave me a good deal :evileye They stripped the back 3 and did a fresh 5%, and added a 2nd 20% on the front to bring it near 5% (since it's their tint in the front it matched up perfect..). Also got a windshield banner.

24 hours after getting the car retinted, today I get pulled over on a 5 minute walmart run when I'm 1 minute from the university. cop goes through 6 lanes in 5pm rush hour to get me. Cites me for front windows, windshield strip, and my exhaust. 10 minutes later a SECOND cop drive up, then he comes back and tells me that he was letting me go with a warning and if he saw my car again like that I'd be ticketed.

Wow. See, it's either cops care or they dont. The vestal cops are the only ones that care here for tint, hell, two other city's cops stations dont even HAVE tint meters they say "We have more important matters to deal with".

Just a rant of how I dislike the Vestal police here:) I'm heading to NV next fall where their laws wont apply to me as an out of state driver.

Now a question for you. Do you tinters get many cops calling/visiting about how you supposedly do illegal tint? What usually happens, you show a warning/disclaimer and show them on their way? Must get pretty annoying, especially when you're a big and popular shop in your area.

S'all for now, Can't wait for Vegas :mad

most of us 'pros' don't like or use limo at all, it's UNSAFE especially for my children.....and as such, we almost all of us tint legal so we don't have to worry about the police visiting unless it's to buy something....here in indiana, a shop can be fined 10 grand for tinting illegally :booga the driver of a car can be fined 1000 dollars for having illegal tint......russian roulette anyone?? NOT ME keep it legal dude :mad

tint it legal and you never have to worry about the cops, and good luck on your nevada stay, becausef the cops there can alos pull you over even if your from out of state! just ask all the people who drive over from arizona and have to strip the film on the spot!

Technically window tinting is illegal in Mexico, contrary to popular opinion here..There are however in Tijuana many tint shops that will put purple limo anywhere you want it for 40-50 per car..go figger.. :thumb
