Vista film install... edges peeling up :(

For some time now, a summer or two... I've had problems here and there with my edges peeling up after I tint a window. Doesn't happen all the time.. and when it does, one window will have the problem, and a window right next to it wont.

I use either Joy dishsoap and water, or Johnson's Baby shampoo and water in my bottle.

The film I was using today was V38.

It seems this happens most when the sun is out and hitting the glass I'm tinting. I don't know if its drying too fast and not allowing enough time to start to tac up or what.

Any ideas how to stop this from happening?? Should I be using something else in my bottle??

Thx.

Try using X 100 mounting solution and being generous in the amount of mounting solution you are using. The CDF has to be activated. I'd stay away from JOY altogether.

DO NOT use x100 on v-38 it will eat the film..Mix up some film-on. Are you pre rolling your film before you get to a job? If so you could be rolling to tight. but then again it might be the hot sun..my experience with that situation came from the roll being to tight and pre-rolling my job 2 days early..One reason I don't pre-cut anymore.

Na, I don't pre-cut. Pulled right from the box. It's just very annoying and troublesome to get it to stay down at times. Especially if the homeowner comes over and sees it. :(

use less slip in your mix..I've only had that a few times with CDF..on small windows 18x22 so it was not so bad. I still blame mine on the roll up to tight. Not the sun cause they were on north and it was n1065 so it was not absorbing shiot. Hey you could use some spectra-seal

X100 and water is CPF's recommended application solution for (Vista) CDF. The exceptions are VS60, VS70, VE35, and VE50, which need to be applied using FilmOn and water @ a low mix ratio.

In the LLumar CDF line up only the N10 Bronze series needs FilmOn, all other CDF is applied with X100.

Well since Steve is mostly flat glass engineer (film to glass and energy analysis) and has absolutely no install experience, I would say he has been misinformed.

I would add V33 bronze to the 'No X100 list, too.

I will call Steve and correct his misinformation. :woowoo
