Ok, I don't normally do flat glass (I've done 6 small commercial jobs all under 300 sq ft) my bread and butter is automotive. Anyway, my question is this....

It's the front of a gym and they want people to not really be able to see in. I know reflective would work well during the day, but at night they'll be able to see right in. Do you think it would work if I did 20% reflective Gold with a 5% reflective grey behind it?

Thanks in advance for the help :lol6

Ah sl*t... you disappoint metint4u2 :bs

67,

There is no way to obtain window film privacy after dark as long as the lights are on inside...

Except, of course, if you were to use a frost/semi-opaque film, which does not allow visiblity in or out, but does allow some visible light to transmit through.

Yeah TS I guess my question was not real straight forward. So, what you are saying is it would be a waste of material. I know that if there is a light source behind the tint it doesn't appear to be as dark. But I read on here where somone else did a reflective doubled over too make a privacy mirror effect. Guess that was in a place with the lights off. I dunno, like I said I'm a novice when it comes to flat glass.

I have never used the blackout/opaque. If I were to use that they can't see in or out right? Is there no way to make it even remotely private? I really do need some help guys...

metint you said something about frosted, what if I put that behind the 20%?

:lol:thumb No need to piggyback 'white' frosty and I didn't even mention blackout because it is very risky in terms of thermal stress. Keep it simple...

sl*t... good point about tbf30, however, it does mention lighting in it as well. I guess I misunderstood your post? :lol

if it's single pain I would do the mirror tint on first and a layer of auto limo on behind it. if it's dual pain I would do the mirror and then have them install flood lights on the outside facing the door...........

We decided to use Johnson's SV10 and I recommended that he install a new/different light fixture outside under the awning if he wanted it to be more effective after the sun goes down.

Sprinter-thanks for the idea :woowoo
