Guest naughtydog Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I am going to run through my landing approach for tinting a window and hopefuully be shown the error of my ways by the masters... after mounting the film I do 2 passes with a clear-max squegee, (should I be using a blue-max???) then I do 2 passes with a black hard card (not sure what the name of this card is??) and then do the edges with a yellow hard card wrapped in a paper towel......is this a bit overboard!! Can you talk me through your landing approach and save me some time...I gotta pay the rent you know!! -soon ND
bogie Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I do two passes with the clear max and one pass on the edges with a blue bondo card. during the winter I use a blue max also
Mr paladin Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I do 2 passes with a yellow squeegee and then go over the edges with a white teflon hard card cut in 2 at an angle
Mdog Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I use a red baron squeege, itl like the yellow rubberish one but just alittle bit stiffer, I go over the whole window with that atleast 2 times. I go down the sides with a white teflon hardcard cut at a triangle so I can get to the hard to reach spots.
Mdog Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I think your gonna find quite a few different ways and tools people use to do this.
Guest naughtydog Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 the more the better..as long as I can speed up that's all I'm looking for. ND
Mr paladin Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I remem ber when I started I used the black squeegee with the grey handle and did not cut it at an angle and left the handle on(can you imagin)
Guest thetintshop Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 I go over it twice with a yellow turbo, then once with a blue max attached to a composite unger handle. then go down the sides and bottom with a white hard card wrapped in a blue shop towel.
Guest Sprinter Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 2 passes with the yellow turbo, then either the old grey card or white teflon cut diaganal, and allways sanded before job starts to prevent any scratches when doing the edges, sometimes will wrap withtowel to help dry up solution.
