Dawg,

Gots a 87 Corvette to tint today and I remember awhile back that you removed the struts off of it and said that it can be one pieced fairly easily. I'd like to remove the struts but am concerned I'll screw something up.

How do you do this?

Any other board member's input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

if I remember right there is a metal clip on the metal strut where it attaches to the button thing, just pry back on the metal clip and the strut pops off, then the thing just unbolts, its NO big deal at all :spit the hardest part is finding a way to keep the glass UP while you tint it :spit I had a little piece of twine I threw over a hanging 6 foot light :spit and tied it up so it would stay up.

I hope you don't mind me answering. Mdog has ENOUGH posts as it is. They should be held with a large phillips screw. Just remove the screw on each strut and remove the latch hardware (2 more screws). Tint the window, then burn the tint through the hole from the outside, loosely screw hardware back in, cut the tint a little bigger than the hardware. The tint should not touch the hardware or it WILL start peeling lated down the road. Remove hardware, remove cut-off tint, re-attach all hardware.

finding a way to keep the glass in the up position is the MAIN reason I 3 piece these now. its a b***h and I dont like f-ing with that glass moving all over the place :spit

this is VERY true even if you take this stuff off, when you put it back on make damn sure you have a small enought light gap around the inside that the hardware doesnt touch it. IT WILL buckle if you dont do this.

do you mean to tell me you haven't invented some redneck way of holding it up using only a tint tube? Aren't you overdue for another freakin' medal?

I'll three piece it if it is easier.

For some reason though I thought you or someone else said it was easier in one.

I take it you splice at the last defroster on each side.

I'm looking for easy.

I'm not that great at splicing.

I find splicing to be a hassle but if it's better than jacking around with a wayward piece of glass then I'll go the route of least resistance even if it means splicing.
