Guest cherasia
Our company has an IWFA membership. I was thinking about taking advantage of the IWFA classes and certifications in flatglass. Have any of you earned these certifications? If so, were the returns on the investment worth the time and money spent to earn the certs? What were the benefits you realized from earning the certs? Thanks! TintWizard
They don't hurt , but won't make you a pro once you have your peice of paper in hand...the general public might think so though
Guest darkdan
I hang all kinds of stuff on my walls. Gives the customers confidence. But I still screw up all the time.
Guest Tintin' Magician
Fo' Real, The certificate doesn't make the tinter... ...the tinter makes the certificate!!! I have all the good stuff on the walls and pics of it in the portfolio but it does help a lil' bit. Some fogies just want to know you can do what say you can do but I always tell 'em "Hey, you can get a good look at a T-bone steak by shoving your head up a cows ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butchers word for it?" Guest vclimber
You will learn stuff that you didn't know before the Cert Class, nobody knows everything... Does that mean you will be good at what you had just learned? No, nonetheless, you did learn something that you did not know before the course and that may or may not be worth something to you or your customers. FWIW- a person could really suck and take the cert course and still really suck. On the same token a pro can do it and not be any better either when they are done. But let's say you were a customer looking for blast mitigation film to be installed at a GSA level 3. Would you take the bid from the guy without the Security Cert or the guy with the Security Cert with all other things being equal?

LOL. I need to get to some demolition sites and pick up some unwanted windows of various glass, gasket, and frame types to practice on.
Guest VOLTRON
I took a certification course for safty film, got a madico certification for the installation of their safty shield sytem and it was a good investment. Not only the information you gather, and tricks of the trade from people who have more time in the biz then me. And then there is the people you meet, so you get to get some networking in too. I'm going to Peoria this week for training at Madico - I'm really excited about it. I'm looking forward to eventually adding anti-graffiti and security training in so I can expand our services. As long as I put the training and cert in terms of sales tools, I believe I my company will sponsor the expense. Thanks, Shauna
