BIG E Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Tinting the wifes 04 Accord saturday with Johnsons full metal 20%rear, 35% rear sides and 50% front sides. Looks like a pretty easy shrink on rear but any tips on this car would be helpful. Thanks.
Guest thetintshop Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 if it's a 4 door, click on my second TOTW medal.
Mdog Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 take the door panels off, other wise its going to be a b***h, the back glass is easy dont worry about that. the seal on the door panel is tight as hell. there are a couple screws to remove then the panel just pops off its held on with those plastic clips.
Mdog Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 yoiu can tint it with the door panels on but it is a hizzo.

Guest Zrok Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 :tts for the quarter windows....SWEET idea....just leave the film a little short for the doors, shrink them before install and no worries back glass is easy.....if you listen to AM radio at all (don' t know why you would :booga ) then don't install metallized film it'll mess with the reception....FM is ok tho :booga
BIG E Posted October 4, 2003 Author Report Posted October 4, 2003 Thanks for the heads up guys, car is 4 door graphite pearl and full metal looks sweet. Thanks M Dog lower front corners on front doors would be a b***h without paned removal. TTS awesome idea on rear door quarters. PS any one else here use Johnsons?
BIG E Posted October 4, 2003 Author Report Posted October 4, 2003 Just noticed my mistake that was 15% on rear window.
hoosierwindowtek Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 I tinted one of these today, here's my impression: If you start with the bottom edge of the tint up off the bottom seal 1/8" on the outside when you cut it, it installs no problem. I shrink the front doors prior to install. the back window is a piece of cake. TTS' tip about the little triangle on the rear doors works GREAT, but is a MAJOR hassle. I'm sure it gets easier with practice, but it's pretty scary for the first time. Thanks, TTS!
