Display cases

Just got a job for some display cases a company is building for a museum for rare document preservation. I called the vendor to find out how long for drying time, suggested about four to six weeks. I"m going to tell them to put some smallish bags of dessicant in the case too, as they want the film to go on the inside.

The film is going on the glass before the cases are assembled. I'm using 2ML clear, 99.9 UV protection. I'm going to squeegee the heck out of the film to get absolutely all of the moisture out that I possibly can, as moisture would be harmful to the docs. I saw the video on the board where the guy did the edge cut and am considering practicing that technique for this job.

Any other suggestions on trimming unmounted glass?

Happy Holidays!!! :rollin

I would film up to about 1/4 inch from the edges.

Sorry for being such a noob -- why 1/4"? What would happen if I took it all the way to the edge?

Thanks,

Shauna

like vtron said, 1/4" gap, if you take it all the way to the edge, when they install the rails to hold the glass in the case, it could catch the edge and peel it up 1/4" gap is good all day every day :beer
