Just got a call today from a customer, tinted their house in 97, involved alot of glass, 30' scaffold and 3 1/2 hr drive one way. Used Solis on it, apparently the adhesive is going bad and is starting to peel. Haven't seen this before, don't know what is really happening to it till I drive down to look at it. The really unfortunate part is that the home owner faxed me all the warranty info and the part that was supposed to be mailed into southwall is still attached. This means that Vkool will kindly tell me they can find no warranty papers and the job will not be covered, as the card was probably supposed to be mailed in 30 days. My past dealings with V-Kool has been most unpleasant. The last warranty job I had to deal with them on was broken glass. Took them 6 mo. to reimburse me, and prior to that, 3 mo. to authorize it initially. They lied to me repeatedly or at least that's what it seemed like. Told me the check was mailed, had been cashed, asked them to produce the canceled check so I could look at "my" sig on the back, then all of a sudden the story changed and the check was being mailed soon. This went on for months. I can only imagine how this will turn out. I get the feeling I may be replacing a lot of film for nothing, and all the new film will have to come out of my pocket. ughhhhhhhh...... :lol6

Back when this was tinted, edge sealing was not required on Solis, I think it is now, maybe has something to do with it failing due to not being edge sealed?

well if it has a lotta corrosion starting at the edge's you will know what happened. How close to the water was this install? 2 layers of silver will corrode quikly.

Its probably 3 hrs + as the crow flies, a mountain range between, in N. Cali. Very dry and I doubt there is any salt air.

I have seen heat mirror windows where the film starts to corrode from the ends

and turn a brite rust color,, I sure wouldnt eat the cost of the film if it was the customers job to mail the warranty card in,,, ask the customer if he bought a tv from best buy and it broke 2 years later, if he would go back to best buy and demand a new one if he never mailed the warranty card in , BB would tell him to go pound sand.

DANG! That sucks, keep us "posted" no pun intended! That really sucks, nothing like a road trip for free. :hmmm

Why don't you see if the customer can take some pictures and email them to you? That way you would know what you are up against before you make the trip.
