Distortion in tint

Hi,

The windows in my car show distortion in them it looks like the film has been stretched and in uneven in thickness. Is this normal? I live in Australia and I am just trying to get an idea of what is normal, I know that some specks are typical but before I go back to the dealer who sold me the car I would like to know what the tint should be like. I don'w want to crucify the guy who did it I just want a fair deal.

Thanks

did the dealer have them tinted for you, or was 'the tint on the car when you bought it' ?? if they were just tinted, it could be water between the film and glass, if they've been tinted for quite some time, the film may be 'deteriorating' but that's just a guess without actually seeing some pics....hope this helps....p.s. if its just water (they were just done) it should dry out....if it's been on for a while, you should have it re tinted if it looks really bad. :thumb

greg, just because you just picked up doesn't necessarily mean it was just tinted...you should find out to be certain then you'll know what to expect :thumb

Yeah I'm here guys. Devil from downunder checking in!

G'day Greg,

It will thrill you to the back teeth to know that the new car dealers in OZ go for the cheapest film out there so they can make the biggest buck and with that comes the cheapest installer. Fact!

What you've got is shoddy work and bubbles are dirt which is obviously not standard in film.

Take it back to the dealer, ask for a redo (it's no skin off his nose) because he simply bounces the sub-contractor to fix this botch up.

The distortion lines, especially if on the rear screen, could be overstressed film due to the damage caused by excessive heat gun usage.

Certainly at this time of the year with 20C temperatures, your application should be dry within a few hours of the installation. Mine certainly are even through the full winter just exitted.

The guys tinting these dealer cars are under the pump these days because they work on the volume market so there is no time left for TLC or finite work to fix up a stuffup so they try and get away with it where they can.

And they're paying about $160 Oz or $100 US a car across the board.

That's why you've got problems.

Regards,

Devil
