Different films or just one?

Recommended Posts

I have been tinting in the area now for about eight years. I have a good name and a good reputation. I do all back windows in one piece and depending on how busy the day is I free hand or lay patterns. So my problem is this, I get people in here who just plain dont care what the warranty and the type of film. So whats the pro's and con's of carrying a Life-time and also carrying a 3-5 year film. I would of course still do a great job, and one-piece the back glass but I'm not sure if "coming down to the h@ck SHOP on the corners price is really worth the investment of cheap film. Any opion would help. If anyone did this and had a good/bad outcome please share.I am just worried that people will go for the cheaper stuff versus the life-time stuff that I have a bunch of.

Bring in a less costly product and offer it at the prices you now have and then sell up to your current film...

Its not a matter of being a chep azz but trying to get a few more customers in that the Hacks would normally get because of price. I was thinking on carrying both film SG Perform as I currently use and STek Standard to drive more bussiness. I in no way will get cheaper as far as quality of install but cheaper to be more competitve against the hacks on the corner. So does anyone do this or do you guys just push one type of film for sake of headache in paper work and selling points

Bring in the same low-cost product as the compettion and up-sale very good strategy, if you have a good salesman who can educate the customer, then most consumers will go for the best value over the best price. :lol2

I agree with a bunch here. You really don't save that much $$ on cheaper film/car. And, you don't want to have that customer running around with a crappy looking job if they keep their car long enough. If their windows are purple, it's not going to sell your shop well if they tell their buddies where it was tinted.

Exactly, because they aren't going to tell their buddies "Yeah, that's the shop that did the work, but I was a cheap arse and bought the low grade film".

They will just automactically place blame on the shop/installer and never think to mention or even remember that they bought the cheap stuff and it will all come down on you in the end.

I haven't installed the cheap dyed film for years, and don't plan to either. The people that won't pay what I charge and go to "the h@ck on the corner" usually have a car that I just prefer not work on anyway, so what does it matter. I save myself a headache in the end, and like mountainmang said, typical market price from a basic 3 year dyed film up to a lifetime film is enough of a difference that you will be getting paid noticeably less, but yet your film costs are basically the same, so why take a pay cut just to hook the cheap customer that drives the 89 accord?

I really agree with this because this tint is going to last a decent amount of time and when someone asks that person where they got their windows done, and see the tint starting tp peal, crack or change colors, they are automatically going to associate you as the h@ck down the street. I would just stick to the life time tint and keep a better customer base.
