its a hardness reading

this is off the filmhandler site

Window film installations require a variety of squeegees to get the job done ? squeegees vary in size, grip type, edge angles and hardness. The durometer reading measures the hardness and will help you determine which squeegee is best suited for your needs. Our squeegees range from 50 - 100 (flexible to hard) and as a rule, the higher the number the harder the squeegee!
