Hello, I just wanted to say hi! Im pretty new to window tinting. I have done it on and off for a few years now. I recently got in the business of decals, truck lettering, and body graphics. I decided I needed another money maker, so tint is the choice I made. I am still looking around for a good templet cutting program that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I already have a 24" cutter. I don't know If I can even use that with a cutting program. I may have to upgrad to a 60" which I was planning on doing anyways in the near future. Does anyone know what is the best program to go with? Also, I found a supplier for $60 for a 20'X100' roll. Is that a good price? Finally. I can tint side windows pretty good (haha who can't?) but, im still having trouble with those back windows. Especially the one on my 02' Stratus Coupe. Does anyone know where I could go or what I could do to sharpen my skills without wasting a million pieces of tint? Thanks for any help in advance. Im glad I finally found a forum for tint...If only I found it sooner...Thanks again, Nick

First and foremost welcome aboard.

Second, and I am not being a smart azz, we don?t talk price. ( I believe I got told the same thing my first week here so don?t take it to personal )

Third I would not use something that cheep; (what is it a manufactures second) I try to look out after what little reputation I have and using the t cheapest film out there will do nothing but give you a bad rap. :lol

Fourth (I have a plotter one of the name brands and software) but I can still hand cut and it is strongly recommended that you learn how to also. :lol

Fifth if you are only worried about tint with your plotter (as far as if size is a factor) a 40? should do just fine.

Sixth on those BGs you will need to learn to heat shrink. ( practice , practice, practice) waste film, waste film waste, film. I went to a (ie factory training class) and this still gives me trouble. As a matter of fact I am spending this Sat as a helper in another shop so I an improve my skill set. :poop

Seventh in order to sharpen your skills you ARE going to waste a million pieces of tint. :lol2

Not trying to bust your balls, all is said and meant in earnest. :lol2

Once again welcome aboard :lol

thanks guys, I appreciate it. Sorry for talking price, I didn't know and won't do it again. as far as the stuff im getting that cheap, Its actually pretty quality stuff. I have had it on my car for 4 years now. well I have to pull it off this weekend cause I got a $605 ticket and the cop said to make sure my tint is legal when I bring my car to court :poop Anyways, I was planning on buying it again cause I know it lasted that long. I do believe in buying good material though as I have learned the headaches I have saved with my vinyl business. Could someone point me in the right direction of a good film? Thanks again for the help.

You didn?t know. No need to apologize.

If your customers are happy with your film then that?s what matters but what I am saying is the price you quoted is way way lower than my distributors economy film (then again I could be being had) and things may have changed over the past years (I.e. is the film of the same quality). Find a manufacture that has been around and is willing to help you out. If you do enough research you?ll find products to be comfortable with.

By the way once again, welcome

PS: look around the board, there are lots of discussion topics that can help you further your goals.

thanks again guys, I appreciate it.

BTW, I really thought the 20% was legal on the back three windows because you see all those SUV's that come from the factory like that and even newer mini vans. Laws are laws though. He gave me $250 for my tint, then he gave me another $250 for the window strip coming down too low which is 5%. then $35 for no front plate and $70 for white blinkers....oh well.

Anyways, Im hoping to learn as much as I can from this place, then I guess the rest is up to me practicing...I was calling around in my area and found a place to teach me how to tint for a whole day. They used to run a school but didn't have enough people so now they charge $100 for the day and they wave that fee if you spend $100 or more in film. I think im going to check that out because that could def be a good oppertunity for me to learn. Im still not too confident taking on jobs of people I really don't know. Maybe this will change that for me....Anyways, Thanks again for welcoming me to your site. Its good to be here
