Chrome coverup?

Hello graphics gurus!

Here is a request to hide some chrome trim but allow it to be restored without damage some time in the future, whenever the cars is sold.

The idea is to cover the chrome with a "tape graphic" of some sort - like a window tint but outside. Many Phaetons are black as is the one I used for my illustration - but mine is a very dark blue, so I need BLUE FILM.

Can it be done?

Is there a source for the material?

Is it difficult to accomplish?

AFTER (that's the plan anyway)

go to the locak body shop repair supply house. they should have lots of universal or 3m roll tape that is made for autos. if they dont have what you need then go to a sign supply store.

liston to MM if you dont get all the moisture out it will rust and pit.

OK, thanks.

Rust and pit may be different on chrome covered plastic? Could bubble like on my '94 Caddy Fleetwood chrome trim spears?

If 3M tape comes in dark blue I'mm gonna be happy - fifty feet by 1 inch width should do it.

Tape, the anti bling. :bingo

Thanks, that looks exactly like what I had in mind. Easy to do, easy to remove if necessary and provides protection to the chrome underneath - an area that normally would take some hits. It's like a clear bra for your chrome rub strips.
