tutone painting

I am thinking about putting a tutone on my 95 eclipse. the color is inferno red pearl and I thinkI would look sweet with a black mid section to breake up the red(plus I want to shave my door handles and would need to paint that area as well) Can anyone give me some steps on how I would go about doing this so I can see if its a job I want to tackle. and I dont want to here just pay a perfessonal, I am interested in the process not just the product.

if your going to shave the door handles make sure you weld a peice of sheet metal in place of the handle to prevent cracking. your gonna want to use either a material called marglass or kitty hair (fiberglass reinforced body filler) to fill in the the rest. the marglass and kitty hair are pretty strong so it shouldnt crack if you do it right. make sure you also sand the door down to the matal so the filler will bond to the metal. after you sand the filler with some 80 grit sand paper go over it with some bondo to fill any pinholes and imperfections and sand that with some 180 or 240 paper. if you can use a polyester finishing glaze putty and sand it with some 340 paper to make it nice and smooth...also make sure you use a sanding block to make sure alll your body work is straight. after that primer it to make sure evrything is straight. as far as the paint I dont do any painting but mayber someone else can give you some tips on that. :cool

thanks I was told to use duraglass or something called tigerglass I think its all the same fiberglass reinforced filler but good info keep it comming. I was also told that to do the twotone that I just have to scuff the area mask it off then spray the second color take the take off and then clear the whole panel again. let me know if I am on the right track.

sorry it took so long to respond been battling some car demons and there eating up all my time. Anyway ya I am going to paint over an existing color. when I shave the handles I am going to change from about 2" down from the window molding to the bottom of the car to black and leave the top part Inferno red peal.

I have been getting some help from so people at work and they said that I would just have to get the same clear as the base paint and scuff the whole panel up then reshoot the clear over everything that way there isn't a noticable line. does that sound about right?
